Never Argue About Politics

I called my aunt today with the only intention of telling her that we enrolled their number in the no-call-list so they shouldn't be getting anymore (or not a lot) calls from telemarketers in a month. But our simple conversation shifted to politics and it got the ugliest side of us. Well my aunt is the most conservative of all conservatives. She is very opinionated that most of the times she gets into a state of proudly mistaking her opinions to be the facts. And no matter how I explained to her what is really happening in the news, she is so into her opinions that whatever else I said were wrong.

Anyway, we had a somewhat heated argument on the phone and then I just retreated because I realized I was just wasting my energy. Anyway, everybody's entitled to their opinions but its just that if I hear somebody twisting the facts, I can't help but speak my mind on the matter. What really pissed me off was when she told me I should listen to her because she's older and has got more experience, and that to me was a baloney. So what? Not because you're older and more experienced, that you know more. Probably you know more, but they don't necessarily be the facts! Oh geez, here I go again. Sorry for venting, but don't worry, we're good before we hang up the phone. I managed to just shift the topic about the antics of my son. And who could resist the joy and laughter from a liitle boy?

Anyway, the moral of the story is not to talk politics anymore if you can help it, especially with people who say "that's your opinion" but don't respect it anyway.
