I called my doctor today to complain about not getting any better from the antibiotic and inhaler he gave me. I am miserable every night. I've been wheezing a lot when I inhale deeply and triggers incessant coughing. But last night was quite different. I got the same wheezing sound even while breathing regularly and I coughed almost all night, I couldn't sleep. It was like having asthma attacks, I was really gasping for air. I stacked up two pillows so I can breathe comfortably. I really wish this virus will take its course completely already. I asked my doctor if its possible to acquire asthma at my age and he said yes. I was just worried because I had a bestfriend who died from complication of asthma and she was in my thoughts the whole night I was suffering. I really wish my condition won't get into a full blown asthma. I hope my new medication will get me out of this misery completely.

ReplyDeleteIf you did 8/10 days of antibiotic and it didn´t work maybe you should make a lung RX to check things better.
If it´s a virus, what was the antibiotic for?

@ Mize - I had chest xray already and it was OK. I know if my condition is viral then I just have to let the virus takes its course, antibiotic won't work. Thanks for wishing me to get well.

Sounds you need a specialist.
ReplyDeleteEven with a viral infection you can suffer from asthma, and.. you can have pneumonia like symptoms from the inhaler when you're allergic to the stuff.
Tell me. I'm asthmatic and have chronic bronchitis and before I got the right medication I was told oh so many times it was viral.
When you worsen at the end of a course of antibiotics you need a specialist or you need to refer yourself to the emergency room.
I hope you'll get better soon.
Your dr should giving you a cough syrup for bronchitis to help the wheezing and able to sleep at night that was I have taking a tsp each night. get well soon.
ReplyDelete@ Laane, thanks for the advice. I hope the antibiotic helps. Two days after I took the new medication, I haven't had bad wheezing anymore. I still have occasional coughing though.
ReplyDelete@ Lanie - I actually stopped the cough syrup already, my dr told me to just stop it if its not giving me any relief. I slept good last night, the wheezing is beginning to go away, Thanks.
