Potty Training Milestone

When my son turned 2 1/2 years old last week, I started sitting him in the potty for training. He thinks that it is just one of the games we play so he's always excited. He will willingly sit there with a book or a toy but nothing is happening. One time as soon as he got up from the potty a stream of pee just squirted out and wet my leg, ooops. Anyway, despite not being successful I still sit him in the potty as soon as he wakes up in the morning and from his afternoon nap and before he goes to bed. It's really a good time to train him at this point because he can control wetting already. During the day, I would sit him if it's been two hours already and his diaper is still dry. I bribe him with a sticker which is actually a boo-boo band-aid.

But today my son had a milestone, finally he was able to pee and we both got startled when the potty played a music. I got this new potty that plays music as a reward when the sensor comes in contact with something. My son exclaimed "I did it, I did it!". I praised him for a job well done and gave him a sticker as reward. Hopefully this will be the start of more successful trips to the potty.

  1. It was difficult for Jason as well to do potty training :D I started since he was 2 years old until now 2 years 3 month. He is too afraid so...i am thinking to try again when he is 2 1/2 years :D

  3. Nakabili ka na pala ng potty, I'll just give ours to Josie. Btw, I'm sure Mikey will thank you for displaying this pic on your blog when he's older. LOL

  5. @Juliana - I know exactly what you mean. I guess just make it more exciting for Jason to go to his potty like giving him stickers or anything as a reward. Or make it as a play rather than a chore. One mom I know bribed her daughter with M&M's ;-).

@Glorie - aren't you so lucky girl? LOL.

@Barb - It's one of those trips sa Target where I only have one thing in mind to buy but I went home with 3 bagfuls of shopping bags, LOL. This is the most decent shot I've taken Barb, and I hope he'll find it amusing when he gets older.

@Amor - Nabuhay ka! ;-) I guess it's different for every boy, don't get too frustrated. Try taking him to the potty every two hours or so even if he doesn't feel like going just so he'll get the habit of it.

    Thank ladies for your comments.
