Can't Teach An Old Dog

I just got off the phone with my aunt, she and my uncle have been nursing bad cold for days now. They haven't been out, the only time they went out was to vote on Tuesday when we had a special senatorial election. Anyway, my uncle's condition was a lot worse because he was coughing uncontrollably. I talked to him for a short time but we were cut off because of his persistent coughing. I wanted to scold him for his stubbornness and lack of common sense sometimes because he just couldn't give up smoking Swisher Sweets and cigarettes despite his condition. Even he doesn't listen to my aunt. Well I guess you can't teach an old dog a new trick.

Drinking Tap Water

When my son had his dental appointment, the dentist asked me if I let him drink water from the tap too. Not all the time I said, because we use purified water through an electric water dispenser. The thing is little children even adults need to drink water from the tap too as this water is added with fluoride to prevent tooth decay. Since I use tap water in cooking anyway, we still get fluoride that way. Adding fluoride in public water supply does not change the appearance, taste and smell of the water, so water filter is not even necessary.

Diet Pills or Healthy Eating?

When you watch television, all you seem to see are advertisements for weight loss. You especially see these ads at the start of the new year where most people's new year's resolution is to lose weight (well, that's my perennial resolution too!). But we should be wary about trusting some of these products as they don't actually give the results that their ad is trying to sell, just like the lipozene reviews I saw online. Reading from the review, it says that lipozene is overpriced and less effective. But for me there is still no replacement to healthy eating.

SEO Software

The past year I was so hooked up and enthusiastic about blogging that I constantly worked on increasing my search engine ranking and boost traffic to my site by submitting my links to different web directories. And then suddenly enthusiasm wore off and I became not as active as I used to. And besides I found it very tedious to submit links to tons of directories and keep track of them, I should probably have seo software to do the work for me.

My First Job

The first job I held when I came to US was as a professional tax preparer. I actually just enrolled in a tax course to learn and be familiar with US taxation. But after passing the course I was offered an opportunity to work, I'm not sure if the company still had to do international background check, but I was hired anyway. I did tax preparation for two seasons. It was very challenging but fulfilling. I remember not having my own car yet back then, my hb had to drive me to and pick me up from work. And sometimes during peak days even if it was my off day, my supervisor would volunteer to pick me up at home to render additional work force. I miss doing taxes and I don't mind doing it again, but I know I have to re-learn it all over again as there have been lots of changes since then.

I Love My Thick Hair

My hair is very thick, my hairdresser would allot at least 45 minutes to do my hair cut including washing and drying. I sometimes complain about having thick hair because it takes a while to dry it after shower. I'm usually very easy on my hair, I don't usually blow it dry, I'm a wash-and-wear kind of a gal . But of course during the winter season, it's a suicide to go out with wet hair. But anyway, on the flip side of things, I should be very thankful for having such hair because some of my cousins have thinning hair if not balding already at very young ages. I don't know what causes hair loss on them, I'm just glad it is not me ;-).

Natural Colon Cleansers

If you can see our kitchen island at this time, it looks like the produce section of a grocery. No kidding. My hb just decided one day that he will start eating healthy and monitor his food intake, so he's been eating fresh fruits and salad lately. He went to Costco today and bought bulks of apples, oranges, kiwi fruits, strawberries, cherries, and blueberries. He eats fresh fruits with cottage cheese at breakfast and afternoon snack. I cannot emphasize enough the benefits of fruits to our health, they are rich in vitamins, antioxidants and act as colon cleansers just like the blueberries, apples, kiwis and strawberries. If you're not fond of eating fresh fruits, you might want to check out colon cleanser reviews for different colon cleansers.

Working Out and Eating Healthy

Has anybody here ever tried using herbal fat burners to lose weight? If so how was it? I've read that they are effective but I'm just reluctant to try them. I don't know but even when I'm in pain I don't easily take pain reliever too. The reviews of herbal fat burners online, sounded very encouraging and promising though, but not until I heard from somebody I know who actually used them that he or she has really lost weight will I consider using it myself. I should probably stick to working out and eating healthy.

Over-Booked Daughter

I always kid my friend that she might be over-booking her 6 year-old daughter whenever she tells me about her extra-curricular activities. She attends piano lessons, jazz lessons, ballet lessons, swimming lessons, and voice lessons. But the good thing though, that despite of her daughter's schedule she still performs very well in academics which is extraordinary. Anyway, I know that her daughter loves horses too, so I will not wonder anymore if one of these days she would tell me that she enrolled her in horse-back riding lessons. I'm sure she would ask me where she could get equestrian apparel as well, can't wait.

Dry and Itchy Eyes No More

I went to my eye doctor last week because I've been having really itchy eyes and my eye drop was not doing any good. My left eye was particularly drier, even the skin around it was flaky. It's funny how my left eye wouldn't open in the morning when I wake up, it was dry and itchy and it really bothered me. So when I went to my eye doctor he prescribed an eye drop to lubricate my eyes and daily dosage of 2,000 mg of fish oil. And for the dry skin around my eye, I started using Aquaphor, the ointment that I apply on my son's face to protect it from dryness especially when we go out in the cold. I felt the difference right away, Aquaphor is like the best eye cream for wrinkles ever.

Working Out Hard

It's been my perennial new year's resolution to lose weight but the enthusiasm usually last a few months of the new year, then I would backslide to irresponsible eating habit again. But this year I'm keeping my fingers crossed to stick to my weight loss regimen. I started the year right by working out in the gym at least three times a week. I was lucky to find a gym that has baby sitting services as well, so I just leave my son there while I do my work out. Even if I have a treadmill at home I still prefer to do my work out in the gym. It is encouraging to see other people working really hard so I get to workout hard as well.

I Have Got Enough of Snow

Yes, you've read it right. It's not fun anymore. It is just fun and exciting to see the first snow falls of the season but after a while it gets tiring to see it too not to mention the heavy snow gear we have to wear every time we go out, it's really time consuming. Like when we attended my son's first music class today that only lasted 45 minutes, I felt like it took longer to take off and put on my son's and my snow gear than the actual class itself. I wish we can jump into spring or summer already so we can do the Outer Banks vacation rentals we have been planning to do for a long time. If only my SIL and FIL won't come over again in April, it's also around that time that we're planning to go to NC. But let's see how it goes.

I Go for Sale and Bargains

Over the weekend we had snow storm again so we didn't plan of going out at all. But around noon of Saturday, I remembered it was the last day allowed to use the Kohl's cash certificate that I got when I shopped during the holidays. Well when you spend $50 you are eligible to get $10 back in the form of a certificate that you can use at later dates. I spent over $100 so I got $20 worth of certificate. Anyway, I wouldn't like that $20 go to waste, so I braved the snow storm and to Kohl's I drove. There were lots of Best Buy in the store because everything was at least 50% off too, what a bargain. What I got were mostly educational toys and board games for my son that he can use already and some for when he's 4 or 5 years old. I also bought more toys for birthday and belated Christmas presents to the kids of some of my friends. It is really good to shop after big holidays, the prices are really marked down. I don't like to pay the regular price so I always go for sale and bargains, what a great deal.

Love for Crime Shows

Two of the few channels that my hb loves to watch on tv are TruTV and A&E channels. He could watch over and over again shows about forensic files, cold case files, masterminds, and just about any crime shows. I sometimes watch with him but at times I find some scenarios very bothersome, like I feel they might give idea or method to criminal minds on how to perpetrate criminal acts. But on a positive note, I am also amazed at how investigators are able to solve crimes based on the evidences acquired. And sometimes even after many years of a crime being cold, they are still able to solve it. On a different note, if you are charged with a crime and you don't know what step to take next, I just saw this website of Oklahoma criminal defense lawyers that can handle criminal matters from murder to misdemeanors. Anyway, we both love to watch court trial drama especially the ones of the high profile celebrities and personalities like OJ Simpson.

Immune Defense Booster

At least one in my family gets a flu during the cold winter days so we always make sure we take precautions like getting flu vaccine shots to prevent it. But sometimes even if we get the shot we still get flu like symptoms one way or the other. My hb is very big on taking supplements that boost the immune system to ward off illnesses. He's read so much about the health benefits derived from elderberry fruits through anti-oxidant and immune functions, so when I got this package of the Respiratory Guard Elderberry Extract Lozenge in the mail over the weekend, he was willing to try it. He was exhibiting flu-like symptoms like dry cough and sore throat, as well as congestion. After taking the Respiratory Guard, he said he felt a little better and his congestion was gone. We get seasonal flu vaccine every year but it does not hurt to take Respiratory Guard to reduce flu symptoms that we still get anyway.

**This review is a result of a feedback campaign by Respiratory Guard. The recipients were asked to give their honest opinion about the product they received. Good reviews were not incentivized and poor reviews will not be censored for their opinion of the product. **
